The family will be raising money for Charleston Animal Society in Jessica’s Honor.

Dear Family, Friends and Community,
We invite you to join us for a special memorial benefit in honor of Jessica McMillan, held at The Charleston Pour House on October 5th from 12 PM to 3 PM. Jessica was a radiant soul—a passionate animal lover, nature enthusiast, music connoisseur, and a remarkably talented visionary artist. She was also one of the kindest and most genuine people you could ever meet.
Her love for animals was evident through her beloved dog, Zion, and her little kitty, Banksy, both of whom she found through The Charleston Animal Society. To honor her memory and her incredible spirit, we are raising funds for this organization, which held a special place in her heart. Prints of her artwork will be available, with all proceeds going to Charleston Animal Center.
We are profoundly grateful to Alex for opening up The Pour House with open arms and the musicians for dedicating their performance to Jessica, providing us with an opportunity to come together in celebration of her life. Jess was known for her vibrant presence at “Dead on the Deck” during her college years and after making the move over to Denver to fulfill her dreams as an artist and love for hiking. During her time here in Charleston, she was an integral part of the Living Color Art Collective and spent so much time sharing her heart through her art! This gathering is not just about remembering Jess but also about celebrating her incredible life.
We ask that you wear bright colors in her honor—no black, please. We’ll have time to share stories and memories of Jess, keeping her spirit alive in our hearts. Additionally, we will set up a large canvas for the community to collaborate on and give it to her mother, Risa, to take home in loving memory of all the people Jess touched along the way. This has been a challenging time for all of us, but we look forward to connecting with you, sharing our love, and celebrating the remarkable person Jess was. Your presence will mean so much to her family, friends, and our community as a whole.
After the memorial, if anyone is interested, we will also take a field trip to the Folly Boat to paint a collaborative mural in her honor. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to share anything during her memorial. We love you all and can’t wait to see you there.
With love and gratitude, Risa Mcmillan, Avital Tsivkin and Megan Leger
