JWADI

A co-founder and former lead singer of THE MOVEMENT, a reggae rock band, Jordan actually took his reggae background and added other influences, turning his formula into something that’s quite fresh and unique.”ALL THAT GLITTERS” is going to serve as a perfect ex- ample of this! The album was primarily written and recorded during his time in the halfway house, and it is arguably a very personal piece of music for the artist. This release is highly recommended to fans of artists as diverse as Yelawolf, Matisyau; Michael Franti, and many more.

The songs on this release are extremely diverse, as each brings something new to the table. For instance, the song “All That Glitters” combines catchy melodies with mesmerizing synth textures and ethereal vibes to counter-balance the staccato groove of the reggae rhythm.

On the other hand, “Bucket List” has a brighter and more open sound, which feels very positive and summery. The track, in particular, showcases the artist’s vocal dexterity and ability to write relatable lyrics. “The Edge,” by contrast, adds a bit of a darker mood while retaining the artist’s signature reggae/dub rhythms. The song has a grittier vocal performance and more focus on rap, which feels fierce and dynamic, in line with the personal nature of the lyrics.

Watch out for the album drop, which will happen on September 23rd, 2023! This release is going to be available on all streaming platforms. JWADI is also planning on releasing physical copies, which can be ordered at www.jwadiofficial.com.

The Hour Glass Kids

The Hourglass Kids began as a group of high school friends jamming in various basements in their hometown of Hickory, North Carolina. Over time, they have evolved into a seven-piece reggae-jam-rock collective known for their mind-melting live performances. Pulling from the musical creativity of all seven members and the unique lyricism of four songwriters and vocalists, The Kids traverse a breadth of stylistic and emotional terrain that includes roots reggae, psychedelic rock, neo-soul, hip-hop, and jazz-rock that has cemented their place in the new underground music scene.

Since their inception in 2019, The Hourglass Kids have played over 100 live shows and have become a staple in the NC psychedelic music scene, often playing alongside original acts on the forefront of psychedelia in the Carolinas such as Mellow Swells, Papadosio, and Treehouse. The band has also opened for touring acts in the American reggae/jam scene such as The Elovaters, Fortunate Youth, Sensi Trails, Mike Pinto, The Ries Brothers, Tropidelic, and The Common Kings.

With a new EP released in the Fall of 2023 and a full length album in the works, The Hourglass Kids feel as motivated, creative, and connected to each other as they ever have been.
