Olivia Jean is a multi-instrumentalist originally signed to Third Man Records, who began her songwriting career as a solo artist in Detroit, Michigan. Olivia’s solo act [Idée Fixe] consisted of instrumental surf songs which she wrote and recorded.
She soon caught the attention of Jack White – celebrated musician and founder of Third Man Records. At age 19, she was signed to Third Man. Olivia’s first project on the label was front woman and songwriter of The Black Belles. The Black Belles released their debut album in 2011. Their song “What Can I Do?” became the theme song for Elvira’s Movie Macabre TV show. The Black Belles were also Steven Colbert’s backing band for his comedic song “Charlene (I’m Over You)”.
In addition to her solo career, Olivia Jean has been a session musician for several artists including Jack White, Wanda Jackson, Karen Elson, Kate Pierson, & The Secret Sisters. In 2014, Olivia Jean released her first solo album on Third Man Records named “Bathtub Love Killings”. The album is an eclectic mix of modern rock, surf guitar tones, garage rock rhythms, and 1960’s girl group melodies.
Olivia Jean is currently recording her second solo album in Nashville, Tennessee.
