Joe Marcinek Band is an ever evolving mixture of original compositions and incredible musicians. Each show has a slightly different lineup and interpretation. The music is a blend of jazz and funk with a cerebral emphasis on groove and improvisation.

Recently the Joe Marcinek Band performed for former president Bill Clinton’s Clinton Global Initiative at the Field Museum in Chicago. The group has featured many prominent guests including Bernie Worrell (P-Funk, Talking Heads), Kris Myers (Umphrey’s McGee), Tony Hall (Dumpstaphunk, Dave Mathews & Friends), Shaun Martin (Snarky Puppy, Kirk Franklin), Allen Aucoin (the Disco Biscuits), Marty Sammon (Buddy Guy), Jason Hann (String Cheese Incident / EOTO), Erik “Jesus” Coomes (Lettuce), Jennifer Hartswick and Natalie Cressman (Trey Anastasio Band), Mike Greenfield (Lotus), Borham Lee (Break Science), Steve Molitz (Phil Lesh & Friends / Particle) Joey Porter (The Motet / Juno What), Fareed Haque, Scott Metzger, Nate Werth (Snarky Puppy) Garrett Sayers (The Motet) Allie Kral (Yonder Mountain String Band), Freekbass, Vinnie Amico and Jim Loughlin (moe.)

George Porter Jr:

Bassist extraordinaire George Porter, Jr. is a seminal part of THE legendary rhythm section of The Meters. Along with Art Neville, Leo Nocentelli and Joseph Zigaboo Modeliste, the group is renowned as innovators of R&B / Funk sound of New Orleans.

Few bass players are as storied as George Porter Jr. and the New Orleans native continues to work to push boundaries. During the course of a career spanning more then four decades, Porter has not only made a deep impression with his work in the Meters, but he’s notched session work with artists as diverse as Paul McCartney, Jimmy Buffett, David Byrne, Patti LaBelle, Robbie Robertson, Tori Amos, Taj Mahal, Ryan Montbleau and live performances with Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Warren Haynes, John Scofield, Steve Kimock, Eric Krasno (and including recent studio releases with Warren Haynes and Bill Kreutzmann).

Early in his career, Porter worked with seminal New Orleans artists like Allen Toussaint, Earl King, Lee Dorsey, and Johnny Adams, Irma Thomas, The Lastie Brothers to only name a few. Porter is also the band leader of his own unique long term project the Runnin’ Pardners, well respected not only as a quintessential New Orleans band, the touring band continues to receive accolades on the jam band and festival scene. He has assembled some seasoned and talented musicians to join him on this project. Familiar Pardners – Brint Anderson (guitar) and, Michael Lemmler (keyboards) and rising stars on the New Orleans music scene Khris Royal (saxophone) and Terrence Houston (drums). George Porter Jr. plans to keep a smile on his face. “I feel like I am working towards something that will be remembered.”

Michael Lemmler:
Michael Lemmler plays keyboards for the bands Jubilation, TriFunctA and plays regularly with the George Porter Jr. Trio.Also a long time member of the local music scene Mike Lemmler has backed the likes of Leah Chase, Kim Prevost, Mark Mullins, Lenny McDaniel, Astral Project and is probably best known for his work with George Porter Jr. and the Runnin’ Pardners. Mike is a rare keyboard talent in that he possesses the ability to play extremely intricate left hand bass while simultaneously executing amazing solos with his right. This ability allows him to fill the roll of bassist, pianist and organist creating an incredible sound in the trio.
